3 Tips On How To Build Your Community Online

By: Anastasiya Day

We are all very busy on a daily basis and to help your business grow we really need to be productive every single day. When you run an online business, there are a lot of things you need to take into consideration and one of the things that you need to think about is Your Online Community.

If you don’t have a community yet, don't worry – this is something that you can start building any time when you think that you are ready. It’s great to have your online community and to be a part of it too. So, this is something you can work towards , however if you would like to start creating your community now, here are my 3 tips on how you could do it.

#1 – Get To Know Your Users

It is so important to get to know your audience.  On Twitter start following people and start a conversation with them. On Facebook add people to your friend list and get to know them too. This way you will be able to build a relevant following from the beginning.

Don’t rush, take time to get to know them and connect with them on their fan page too. Start interacting with them and start growing your online network.

Remember you are building a community, where people can interact, ask questions and support each other.

Make sure your community will benefit from their involvement – concentrate on building the value within your community and with time people will become your committed supporters.

#2 – Be Real, Be You and Have a Personality

When I visit someone’s fan page and if I see only promotional stuff on the page – I don’t feel connected with them and unfortunately I have seen this a lot times. Yes, we are in a business and we should promote what we do, but before someone buys your products or services, surely they would like to get to know you!

So, post different things on your social media sites, for example: Post your offers several times a week, promote your free offer several times a week and ask them questions. Another great way to stay connected with your audience is via images and inspirational/motivational quotes.

#3 – Show Your Support

Nowadays, it is so often that when we buy something online, you get this standard message: “Thank you for your order. Your parcel will be delivered within several days…. Or sometimes I get a call from the automated machine.”

I don’t know about you but I personally like to talk to a real person! In my business I want my clients to know that I care and I am always here to support them. Not a machine – me their virtual assistant.

So, show your clients that you care and think about them. Here is one of the ways how to do it:  When they sing up to your free offer, in your autoresponders set a welcome message asking them to follow you on Social Media sites. Maybe you could suggest opportunities for them to tweet or share this information with their friends. They will be happy to do so, because you took the time and you thought about them and their friends.

When building your community online, you must remember that real community won’t be built over night. It will take time, determination and yes, sometimes in your community, groups and inner circles you will have “awkward times”. But remember we are all very different and we think differently too, so don’t worry about this – this will pass.

Come and join our community today, where like minded people are supporting each other on a daily basis to help your business grow and prosper.

Hey Anastasiya, it's great to see your happy face on video. It's a pleasure being part of your community and thank you so much for the tips. I like the one about being real and having a personality. If more of us would actually just be who we are, things always go so much better. I look forward to catching up with you in London soon.

Community is all about working together and getting to know one another and like you say, it is not something we can rush, but unfolds over time for sure.

It's so important to be 'real' and not constantly selling… one of my coaches advocates 90/10 — 90% YOU and 10% sales.

I love what you have going! I intend to turn my datingdivasites into a women's site with all kinds of tips from jobs, fashion, relationships, health, finance and the empowerment of women. All of these things tend to hold women back and I want to help in personal development. If you are interested in becoming a contributor for helping women learn a new job skill I would love articles and to give you a section inviting them to join your community..send me an e-mail if you are interested!  I love what you do!

Hey Anastasiya!  Loved how you brought up those points on building community on social media.  That is really the key on here.  I mean, if we aren't building relationships and being social, then really…where is the fun?  It becomes FUN when we start CONNECTING on whole new levels and building some AWESOME friendships =)
